At this moment when everyone is so thrilled with the idea of Artificial Intelligence, I wanted to write about the very roots of AI. How AI began and how its currently being employed in the Industry.
So, this article aims to talk about
What is AI?
The History of AI
Current Application of AI
Future of AI
AI has been affecting our daily lives from a very long time, but we don’t how and where.
To figure this out we need to first know
What is AI?
According to Google:
“The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.”
Now the question is, is AI a part of:
Mathematics
Electronics
Biology
Psychology
It is none alone. However, it is the blend of all the above branches.
The idea of AI was derived from making an Artificial being that would be capable of doing every task that a normal human can do/have:
Visual Perception
Speech Recognition
Decision-Making
Translation Between Languages.
Emotions
AI is implemented using different Algorithmic Processes
Machine Learning
Reinforcement Learning
Deep Learning

These seemingly complicated algorithms are made possible using computer programming and the data collected over the years.
Today these are the main Algorithms that are being used which we call Artificial Intelligence.
When do you think AI first began. To know this let's go back, way back in time.
1950: Alan Turing proposed the Turing Test.

1951: Isaac Asimov proposes The three laws of Robotics.

1955: Arthur Samuel builds the Checkers Game.

1959: MIT AI lab was set up.

1965: First chatbot ELIZA that had the ability of Natural Language Processing (NLP).

1974: First Autonomous Vehicle was created by Stanford AI.

1989: First Autonomous Vehicle was built using Neural networks made in Carnegie Mellon University.

1997: IBM DeepBlue defeats Garry Kasparov in the game of chess.

1997: MIT AI emotional robot KISMET and the video is available on youtube I would say please watch that:
Also watch the ted talk by Cynthia Breazeal the creator of KISMET: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAnHjuTQF3M

1999: SONY releases AIBO and if you haven’t seen it yet you are missing out a search for in on YouTube and also I’ll put the link to the video in the description:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJciRIZQTg4

2011: IBM Watson Beats Jeopardy! Champions.

2011: Siri, Google Assistant, Cortona were released.

2016: Google DeepMind’s AlphaGo defeats Korean World champion Lee Sedol in the ancient Chinese game of Go, if you are interested you can watch the video available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXuK6gekU1Y

So as we can see AI is not new but the advances that we are making are exponential,
The current application of AI are many
Current Application
Agriculture and Farming
Today we are facing a shortage in human labour in the field of Agriculture and Farming, AI guided machines are a boon to this industry and produce at the scale that the humans cannot. The AI can analyse soil and predict, the harvest for the season, plantation for the next and fertilisers to use for better yield. In the field of Animal Husbandry, AI is being used to monitor the health of the animals and predict the conditions for which they can produce more.

Aviation
Almost all the major companies are using AI to build much bigger and better aircraft and monitor the air traffic. Today AI save millions of gallons of fuel that would get wasted in just parking the plane. Today AI is flying as well as monitoring the skies, which has lowered the deaths caused by plane crashes by a significant amount.

Computer Science
AI in the field of computer science has been revolutionary. We have now security cameras that can sense crimes and report them to the police before they even happen. The AI recommender systems are recommending us things that we want to watch like in Netflix or buy like in Amazon, without explicitly telling them. We are creating virtually unhackable systems.

Deepfakes
deepfakes are also one of the uses of ai because of which we are now even able to create movies without the need of original actors, but the wrong side of this is that one can also use deepfake to create misinformation and fake news which may cause distress and panic among people. There are also positive uses of deepfakes. DeepFakes are now being used to make voices for people who have lost theirs. Deepfakes open a new world for these people.

Education
Ai in the field of education has impacted the learning processes so much that people are now relying more on ai related study material than the standard stuff. AI helps one learn according to one's own pace and analyses which topic to stress more on, and since no student is the same, the curriculum can be well defined and separate for every individual.

Hospitals and Medicine
Medicine and diagnosis are the major fields that have been affected in a revolutionary way that now we can predict cancers in humans way before it even started developing in the individual's body. AI guided robots are in use that can make precision surgery and thus are capable of saving more lives. AI is being used to predict which compound to use for tackling a disease.

AI In Near Future Is Going To Be Used In All The Fields That We Can Think About
Development of an AGI: With the current advancement we can say that AGI will be available to us by the next decade.
Completely Self Driving Cars: The self-driving cars have limitations as of now, with more research, AI can be the future of driving and can save millions of lives per year.
AI in Industries: With the use of AI many industries are saving millions of dollars and doing tasks with greater precision.
AI in Security: The advancement of AI the security industries can rely on AI for its security. Today AI is being used in the field of Cryptology.
Conclusion
AI is a field that is so much unexplored and is still in its development phase.
Some people are scared that AI can become something that the Popular movies like Matrix and iRobot have shown, but we are far away from achieving these milestones.
Some people think that with the increase in AI in industries we will have a period of recession and people will lose jobs, but this is not entirely true, AI can create more jobs.
